My final prac was once again with the year one at St. Mary's

We worked on the theme of SPACE and had heaps of fun.

Central to the students learning was this story, presented on power point, about a class that were dancing on a sunbeam.

The sunbeam caught the class up by the heals and hurled them into Space.  The story ended with a letter from the teacher asking for our help to rescue the class.  There were links to internet sites as part of this letter and ideas for learning about Space.

After some initial activities the class and I went to Space!!!

The children were so excited about the prospect of going to space.  One of the girls arrived early to school the next morning with her PJs and pillow packed in a bag to go on our space trip.  She told her Mum the previous night that she would be going and so she wouldn't be able to see her for a while.

I prepare the powerpoint slides complete with Space appropriate music.

As part of our trip each student was given a line and a role as part of the cabin crew.  We ended up taking the year sevens on our first trip, the parents the next day and the pre-school the day after that.  The first trip was the best and the students were amazing.

As we neared the planet Pluto we ran into a little trouble!

We travelled past many planets and as we did, the students explained to our guests that various features.  We had a microphone especially set up so that we could hear them and the back ground mood enhancing music.

We discovered comets, asteriods and shooting stars (meteors).

THEN the Aliens disappeared!

As it turned out, we'd been rescued by Angels.  They told us that they had sent the class back to Earth and they would send us back also.

They told us to always remember in every situation.... think, "What Would Jesus Do?"
