These are some art work and various resource bits and pieces This sign was made to be part of the website for my intergrated unit on Spy Kids 3D. This began with the mathematics component and grew from there. You can click on the picture and a link will take you to the website that I developed as a psuedo Spy Kids training centre. It is lots of fun. |

"The boy with the sticky up hair" is a story about a boy who didn't know he had a secret identity as a son of the king. This is a unit for grade one students which integrates RE with SOSE and science to teach students about stewardship. The unit is called - A GIFT FROM THE KING. more details below. |
Another picture from "The boy with the sticky up hair". A focus point in the unit will be the mangroves and the rule, “leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but memories”. |
The unit, Operation Pocahontas, centres around the story of "Jack and the beanstalks - Niki's Version". This is about endangered species, cause and effect and the catastrophies that eventuate when introducing foreign species. The crazy character, Jack, shows up to be interviewed by the students and tells about his great Aunt who fell into the same trap when she tried to fix up the mistake of swallowing a fly. Many other fun things happen along the way. |
This is that crazy Jack character trying to call for help on his mobile phone - of course he is out in the middle of nowhere and can't get reception - Stupid new fangled technology! doh! |
Those beanstalks just mucked up everything |
"Sambala" is a unicorn story that runs a little like a parable. It was written for my niece who is also my God daughter and loves all the magical fantasy type tales. It teaches about deception and sacrifice and a place where all creatures are at peace with each other.... Now what does that story sound like? |
another picture from Sambala |
The dragon from the Sambala story |
This is the clown that appears at the end of the story, Timna's tale |
Timna was one of the resources for a SOSE unit, "Come join the circus of life". Timna teaches about making judgements without knowing all the facts and hurting people |
"Come join the circus of life" looks at understanding others - walking in their shoes |
THE THREE LITTLE PIGS SEQUEL - by Niki - Another SOSE resource about using available resources to make a new house for the three little pigs - The wolves all got together and blew up the house of bricks - A much enjoyed story by the grade two students. |
picture for The Boy with the Sticky up hair - The students will become familiar with the creation story as told in the Bible, Genesis chapters 1,2 and 3. Through this the students will be encouraged in their responsibilities as the children of God, to care for the environment, themselves and each other. |
The students will explore the connectedness of the environment with food chains and webs, and will particularly be looking into the reef to the rainforest and those creatures depending on this environment. |
This unit introduces the students to the gift of creation as a gift to them from their heavenly father. |
This teaching utilizes the story of “The boy with the sticky-up hair”, a story of a boy with an unknown secret identity, as the son of the king. This is revealed to him by ocean spirits that take him on a journey to the mangroves and enlighten him to the fact that other girls and boys are also children of the king – but they have forgotten who they really are. |
